New Mini

After 3+ weeks and one failed eBay auction the (Mac) Mini finally came yesterday! I've spent most of the day getting it set up today. I've moved all my user files from toodles (a debian box) and I just got the alarm clock (iTunes via cron) to work. Here were the secrets:
-Write (or copy from a forum) an AppleScript:
tell application "iTunes"
activate
set the sound volume to 100
play playlist "Library"
end tell
-Enable cron by adding CRON=-YES- to /etc/hostconfig
-Add /usr/bin/osascript before the script file in cron. That was the kicker! (at least after cron was enabled)

So now, just as toodles before it, merryweather (which is the new Mini's name) is pumping out a mix of oldies, funk, offbeat and more on the extremely local frequency of 106.1, starting at 4:30 AM and ending at 8:00 AM. So whenever the alarm is set, my day is getting off to a happier start.

I've been very happy with OSX so far. I've had toodles for about 6 years, and it was really getting sluggish as a PII. And I wasn't really happy with the many steps I had to take just to look at digital pictures, etc, on toodles, so I'm digging the mac. :)
