And for this error:
[root@mgmt]# /usr/libexec/mysqld --user=mysql
050504 15:09:57 /usr/libexec/mysqld: Can't find file: './mysql/host.frm' (errno: 13)

I did:
chown -R mysql.mysql /var/lib/mysql

Seems to work...on to php.
