Uploading to the Explorist

So maybe I'll actually remember how to do this if I type it out, but at the very least I'll have a record of it!

We're heading to Charleston tomorrow, so I wanted to load the maps for Atlanta to Charleston. Here's how I did it:
  • Choose the map on MapSend, check it over on the right, and go to Regions>Upload to GPS
  • Choose 'Store on Hard Drive'
  • Click through it
  • Open the Magellan Conversion Manager
  • Click 'Transfer Map Region'
  • Choose the files you want to load, and click through it
  • It will upload!
  • To get your new map to show up, go to Properties in the Explorist and choose 'Active Setup'
  • Go to 'Detail Map' and choose the one you want. (This will show up as a square on your map if you zoom way out)
  • This is also where you get the geocaches to show up on the map, by going to 'Geocache pt' and choosing your file. (This can be a little annoying, especially here in Chattanooga, land of the mindless micros, but at least you can tell where they are! :)
Incidentally, one thing I find really annoying about the Explorist, as this is the first big trip I've taken it on, is that you can only upload 200 caches at a time. What?! I've got all the memory I can stand in there, and I can still only load 200 caches at at time?! So I've got files called Charleston0, Charleston1, etc, and most of those aren't really Charleston, they're the route to Charleston, such as Atlanta, which was gleaned from a route pocket query using Google Earth. :) Way nifty!
